Why We Built This Site
Connecticut gives the public access to many government and court records, but Stratford does not fit the county-courthouse pattern used in many other states. Adult Superior Court records usually route through Bridgeport Judicial District or Geographical Area 2 at Bridgeport. Probate is handled by Stratford Probate Court. Marriage, certified vital records, and land records are handled by the Stratford Town Clerk at Town Hall. Local police reports are handled by the Stratford Police Records Unit.
The goal is to reduce wrong-office searches. A divorce decree is not a Town Clerk vital record. A current inmate search is not a Stratford jail roster. A police arrest report is not the same file as a Superior Court criminal case. Clear office boundaries make record requests faster and more accurate.
